Britney To Be Sued Over New Single?

Seventies band The Bellamy Brothers are considering legal action against Britney Spears over her new single, Hold It Against Me.

The American country duo had a worldwide smash in 1979 with If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me. The duo are unhappy with perceived similarities with Spears’ new track and have announced they are “weighing their options” as to whether to sue the star and her songwriters.
“Back in 1979, I wrote a little song called If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body, Would You Hold It Against Me,” singer David Bellamy said in a statement. “That little song went No 1 and has since become one of the defining songs of our career. If you listen to the lyrics of Britney Spears’ new single, Hold It Against Me, you’ll find some major similarities.

"Howard and I have no personal beef with Britney," Bellamy said of him and his brother. "She's a talented girl. But professionally, well, in all honesty, we feel completely ripped off. Where's the originality?"
Britney’s single was co-written by Max Martin who penned many of her earlier hits including Baby… One More Time and (You Drive Me) Crazy.

In other Britney news, the singer’s forthcoming album looks set to have a more urban sound. Producer Danja, who worked on SexyBack by Justin Timberlake and 4 Minutes by Madonna, said he has been instructed by Britney’s team to give her tracks an R&B vibe. “They wanted it to sound urban, hard-hitting, not so much dance,” he revealed.
