No. 1 On Billboard Hot 100 : Britney Spears Likely To Top Next Week

Bruno Mars and Katy Perry continue playing an epic game of leap frog on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Katy reclaimed the top spot last week to earn her fourth nonconsecutive week at No. 1 with “Firework,” but this week Mars’ “Grenade” scores a victory this week.

The 2-1 rebound earns the seven-time Grammy-nominated newcomer’s “Grenade” its second nonconsecutive week leading the chart.

While Bruno sits pretty this week, it’s unlikely he or Katy will be back in the driver’s seat next week as Britney Spears‘ new single, “Hold It Against Me,” is predicted to have a No. 1 debut. The track, the first from Britney’s as-yet-untitled March album, is smashing records at radio and is estimated to have single sales of over 400,000 copies, Billboard reports, making a straight-to-the-top debut almost a sure thing.
