Britney Spears Hires Tutor to Help Manage Fortune

US pop star Britney Spears has hired a financial tutor to teach her how to manage her millions, which is being interpreted as a sign she is getting her life back on track.

Despite being under a financial conservatorship after suffering a breakdown in 2008, the 29-year-old has taken on a personal finance management tutor from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.

She will reportedly be taught the basics of personal finance so she can manage her own affairs.
"Britney is moving towards getting control of her life," an unnamed source told the UK's Daily Mail.

"She wants to win control of her finances. The tutor will help with basic skills — like balancing personal accounts and time management."

In 2008 a Los Angeles court commissioner made the then 26-year-old singer's dad, Jamie, and lawyer Andrew Wallet conservators of her estate.  The financial conservatorship is still ongoing and she is "content" with the current arrangement, TMZ reported.

In December 2008, when conservators took over Spears' estate, she had assets amounting to US$2.8 million. In December 2009, the conservators controlled US$27.5 million. Most of the gains reportedly came from Spears' Circus tour.

But conservators only control a portion of Britney's total estate. She reportedly has money and property in trusts and other business entities, which conservators do not control.
