Britney's second single off her debut album, ...Baby One More Time, debuted on April 30, 1999 and the music video premiered just a week later on MTV's Total Request Live.
The "Sometimes" video was directed by Nigel Dick, who was also behind the artistic direction for "...Baby One More Time," "(You Drive Me) Crazy" and "Oops!...I Did It Again." Because Britney injured her knee during video rehearsals, the shoot was postponed to April 9-10, 1999 in Malibu, CA.The "Sometimes" music video depicts Britney as a sweet, fun-loving girl-next-door, and opens with Britney watching her love interest (played by Abercrombie & Fitch model Chad Cole) from afar, wishing she were with him. Much of the dance scenes take place on the Paradise Cove pier, with Britney and her dancers dressed all in beach-friendly white attire.
