Britney Spears Headed To Top Of Charts With ‘Femme Fatale’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --Britney Spears is set to debut at the top of the charts next week with her latest album, “Femme Fatale,” Billboard reports.

The pop princess’ seventh studio album will likely nab the number one spot on Billboard 200 next week with approximately 280,000 copies of her album estimated to be sold by April 3, according to the mag. The move will likely topple this week’s album chart topper — Chris Brown’s “F.A.M.E.”
According to Billboard, Britney’s “Femme Fatale” is likely to earn the second place spot for largest sales week in 2011, right behind Adele’s sophomore album, “21,” which sold 352,000 copies during its initial week of release.

If Brit pulls off a sixth No. 1 debut, she’ll join superstars Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson in a three-way tie for third-most No. 1 albums, Billboard reported.

Janet and Mimi are second only to Madonna (with seven chart-topping albums) and current record-holder, Barbra Streisand, who tops the list with nine chart toppers.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Britney, 29, has been making the rounds to promote “Femme Fatale,” giving a pseudo-surprise performance in Las Vegas on Friday, a San Francisco show for “Good Morning America” and an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday night.
